Overview

A leading construction organization is seeking an experienced Building & Commercial Superintendent to oversee field operations on complex commercial, healthcare, laboratory, and life sciences projects. This role is responsible for ensuring projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with stringent quality and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate is a proactive field leader with strong technical expertise, exceptional organizational skills, and experience managing work in highly regulated or occupied environments.

The Role

The Commercial Superintendent will lead day-to-day construction activities, coordinate project stakeholders, and ensure all work is completed safely, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards. This individual will play a key role in managing complex building systems, maintaining compliance with project-specific requirements, and driving collaboration between owners, designers, subcontractors, and internal teams. Success in this role means delivering technically demanding projects while maintaining safety, schedule adherence, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily field operations for commercial building and life sciences construction projects.
  • Coordinate construction activities involving structural systems, MEP systems, clean room environments, and other specialized building requirements.
  • Enforce site safety standards, compliance protocols, and project-specific requirements while promoting a strong safety culture.
  • Develop, maintain, and adjust 6-week look-ahead schedules to effectively manage labor, materials, and project sequencing.
  • Utilize Procore to manage daily reports, RFIs, drawings, submittals, and project documentation.
  • Collaborate with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal project teams to ensure project objectives are achieved.
  • Manage sequencing, site logistics, access control, and quality standards, particularly within active or occupied facilities.
  • Mentor field personnel, foster accountability, and support the development of high-performing project teams.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Superintendent in commercial construction, life sciences construction, healthcare, laboratory, or related building projects.
  • Strong understanding of building systems, including MEP coordination, structural systems, clean room environments, and tolerance-sensitive construction.
  • Proven experience leading safety and compliance efforts on complex construction projects.
  • Proficiency with Procore for project documentation, reporting, RFIs, submittals, and field management.
  • Experience managing construction activities in occupied, operational, or highly regulated environments.
  • Strong scheduling and planning skills, including management of short-term and look-ahead project schedules.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate across all project levels.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with a focus on accountability, quality, and project execution.

Required Certifications:

  • OSHA 30 Certification
  • First Aid/CPR Certification
