Medical Technologist – ASCP Certified Generalist

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Medical Technologist – ASCP Certified Generalist to join our laboratory team. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills across multiple laboratory disciplines and demonstrate a commitment to quality patient care and accurate diagnostic testing.

Position Summary

The Medical Technologist performs moderate- and high-complexity laboratory testing in accordance with established procedures and regulatory standards. This role is responsible for specimen analysis, quality control, instrument maintenance, and accurate reporting of laboratory results to support patient diagnosis and treatment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform laboratory testing in hematology, chemistry, microbiology, coagulation, urinalysis, immunology, and blood bank departments.
  • Analyze, verify, and report patient test results accurately and efficiently.
  • Operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
  • Perform and document quality control procedures and corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, OSHA, HIPAA, and laboratory safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and laboratory documentation.
  • Communicate critical or abnormal test results according to established protocols.
  • Assist in training and mentoring new staff and laboratory students.
  • Maintain laboratory inventory, supplies, and reagents.
  • Participate in competency assessments, proficiency testing, and continuing education activities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field required.
  • Current ASCP certification as Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) required.
  • Generalist laboratory experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, instrumentation, and quality assurance practices.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
