Job Summary

The Associate Product Owner is key in ensuring we solve our customersโ€™ problems via our solutions. The Associate Product Owner will lead the charge to support the productโ€™s vision by clearly articulating the user stories for multiple established personas. The Associate Product Owner will ensure the โ€œvoice of the customerโ€ is being met by signing off on product requirements through scrums and sprints using agile methodologies. The Associate Product Owner will be responsible for building, editing, and maintaining the feature and user story backlog, including acceptance criteria, defects, and enablers.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Be the โ€œVoice of Customerโ€ for internal stakeholders. Work with the relevant Product Team Members(s) to define and prioritize product deliverables for our customers. Interpret customer requirements (workflows and requests) and translate them into user stories with acceptance criteria that can be understood by Engineering to build and test the product by articulating the 'What and Why' of the requests. Work closely with development teams to define the scope of work, clarify customer requirements for the team, establish acceptable time frames for completion, and assist in managing the development process through to product completion (e.g., epics, customer enhancements, known issues, usability, cybersecurity). Participate in the Risk analysis of User Stories review and act as a subject matter expert to help clarify any requirements for the review process. Drive the backlog prioritization and refinement process that defines feature commitments for upcoming sprints, considering the multi-faceted needs of the business. Work with customers on validation and acceptance of product delivery before the final release Participate in the release and sprint planning, including a review of the previous sprint, an overview of an upcoming sprint, a review of new customer requirements, enhancements, and any other planned items. Provide content to Knowledge Management and Marketing functions on customer-facing documentation, release notes, and training documentation.

Requirements Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Experience working in an Agile/Lean/Scrum environment Proficient oral and written English communication skills Comfort in working with direct customers and internal customer-facing team stakeholders Must comply with and pass initial background check and drug screening, as well as subsequent background checks, drug screenings and vaccine requirements as required by customer contracts Ability to follow DIโ€™s policies, procedures, system usage practices Must have unrestricted work authorization in the United States Ability to travel up to 25% of the time

Education and/or Experience

Bachelorโ€™s degree in business, engineering, computer science, or a related field and a minimum of 2 yearsโ€™ experience related to product management such as Polarion, Jira, or other requirement software systems OR a combination of education and related working experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

While performing duties of this job, the employee is predominately functioning in a sedentary light office position with high frequency of telephone communication, keyboarding, and computer.

Preferred skills and experience

2+ years' experience in Product Management, Customer Support, Technical Support, or Engineering Operational expertise with the Instrument Manager Product from Data Innovations Knowledge of laboratory information systems (LIS), analytical instrumentation, and automation systems Working knowledge of HL7, FHIR, ASTM, or similar medical device interoperability protocols Pragmatic Institute, Product Plan, or other Product Management Training Responsible for building, editing, and maintaining the feature and user story backlog, including acceptance criteria, defects, etc. Plan and prioritize product feature backlog user stories for their work-streams Assess value and prioritize user stories to ensure work focuses on those with maximum value as aligned to the product strategy Responsible for iteration pre-planning and preparing to bring forward detailed user stories during iteration planning Ability to present technical information in a comprehensible way to an audience with a broad variety of technical aptitudes Feel comfortable working in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment

Supervision Level

This person reports directly to the Manager of Technical Product Management.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Salary Range: $98,500-121,300 (Compensation will vary based on skills and experience)
  • Bonus Eligibility: Full-time, non-sales employees are eligible for DIโ€™s annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance.
