Job Title: Research Technician (Analytical Laboratory - Rheology & Physical Testing)
Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented, autonomous, and safety-conscious Research Technician to join our analytical laboratory team. In this role, you will perform moderately complex laboratory activities to generate reliable, high-quality analytical data supporting R&D, product development, and business stakeholders.
This is a hands-on, on-site technical role focusing on rheological and physical materials characterization. You will execute test requests, follow strict standard operating procedures (SOPs), troubleshoot and maintain laboratory instrumentation, and collaborate with scientists and engineers to solve technical challenges. Key Responsibilities
Analytical Testing & Experimentation
• Materials Characterization: Execute analytical testing activities utilizing established methods (including rheological and physical test protocols) to characterize raw materials and finished products.
• SOP Execution: Conduct assigned experiments in accordance with standard operating procedures, contributing to the optimization of existing methods and the creation of new protocols.
• Technical Collaboration: Partner closely with analytical scientists and internal customers to address technical questions, interpret test results, and support ongoing R&D initiatives.
Data Analysis & Reporting
• Data Integrity: Collect, document, analyze, and graph test data using appropriate software tools (Microsoft Excel, Word), ensuring rigorous compliance with quality and data integrity policies.
• Stakeholder Communication: Communicate analytical results clearly to project stakeholders through standard reporting formats and documentation reviews.
Laboratory Operations & Equipment Maintenance
• Instrument Upkeep: Ensure reliable laboratory operation by managing equipment set-up, calibration, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Vendor Coordination: Coordinate with external service providers and equipment vendors to resolve technical issues and minimize instrument downtime.
• Safety & Compliance: Maintain a safe laboratory environment through proper chemical handling, adherence to safety policies, and continuous improvement of lab procedures.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
• Education: High School Diploma or GED required (Associate's degree in a scientific or technical field is a strong plus).
• Experience Baseline: 1 to 5+ years of professional hands-on experience in a laboratory technician, physical testing, or quality control environment.
• Technical Mastery:
oProven experience executing experiments following structured Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
oHands-on familiarity with general laboratory tasks, analytical instrumentation, and proper chemical handling/safety protocols.
oDemonstrated ability to troubleshoot, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment.
oProficient computer literacy, including data charting and graphing using Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).
• Core Competencies: High degree of autonomy and attention to detail; strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact effectively with a diverse team of scientists, engineers, and stakeholders.
Additional Position Details
• Engagement Type: Contract-to-hire opportunity (6 to 12 months duration with strong potential to transition into a full-time, regular staff position based on performance and business needs).
• Equipment: Company-provided computing hardware will be utilized for all data analysis and reporting duties.
