Job description

Job Summary: The Laboratory Sample Courier is responsible for transporting laboratory samples between designated WayneSanderson Farms (WSF) locations in North Alabama and the Laurel, Mississippi laboratory. This position ensures samples are handled, documented, and delivered safely, accurately, and on time in accordance with company procedures and applicable requirements.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Transport laboratory samples between assigned WSF locations and the Laurel, MS laboratory following established routes and schedules.
  • Handle all samples according to required procedures, including proper labeling, temperature control, and chainofcustody requirements.
  • Plan and adjust daily routes as needed to ensure timely pickup and delivery while maintaining efficiency.
  • Maintain regular communication with laboratory staff and location contacts regarding pickup times, delays, or transport issues.
  • Conduct routine vehicle inspections and ensure the courier vehicle is clean, safe, and in proper working condition.
  • Accurately maintain delivery logs, mileage records, and required documentation.
  • Provide coverage during periods of increased volume or urgent testing needs, as required.
  • Follow all WSF policies, safety guidelines, and applicable DOT requirements.

Experience:

  • 0-2 years of experience in transportation, courier services, logistics, or a related field preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to follow written instructions, schedules, and standard operating procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail with consistent and accurate documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Professional communication skills and customerservice focus.
  • Basic recordkeeping and organizational skills.

Supervisor Responsibilities:

  • None. This is an individual contributor role

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver's license

Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to typical risks of injury in an office environment.
