Job Description
The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) is seeking a detail-driven, collaborative HRIS Analyst to join our Human Resources team. This role blends HR functional knowledge with technical expertise in HR systems to support accurate data, efficient processes, and high-quality reporting across the institution. You'll work with Workday HCM, data visualization tools, and campus partners to support data integrity, troubleshoot issues, and enhance HR operations. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, improving systems, and helping others use technology with confidence. This role offers a meaningful opportunity to make an impact at a major research university.
Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Serve as an HRIS subject matter expert, advising HR staff and campus partners on Workday processes, reporting, data integrity, and system capabilities.
  • Monitor Workday data accuracy through routine audits of core data structures, reports, and integrations, and address identified issues.
  • Liaise with UW Shared Services to resolve issues, escalate tickets, and identify trends requiring action.
  • Provide training, documentation, and user support, including job aids, workshops, forums, one on one guidance, and refined procedures, to promote consistent and effective HR system usage.
  • Provide data extracts, visualizations, and basic analysis to HR leadership and campus partners.
  • Document reporting and business requirements to build or maintain reports and dashboards using Workday and other HR or campus-related data sources to meet operational, trend, and compliance reporting needs.
  • Manage Workday security access, including assigning and updating roles, ensuring compliance with policies, and supporting periodic access reviews.
  • Participate in planning, testing, and rollout of Workday updates, new features, and process improvements.
  • Research and recommend improvements to HR systems, applications, and related technologies, staying current on Workday and UW System initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience running or analyzing or troubleshooting queries/reports of varying complexity
  • Experience providing responsive support to end users by addressing routine and complex questions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, SharePoint, Teams, etc.)
  • Experience supporting end-user training and developing job aids
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy in data related tasks

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology Management, Human Resources Management, or related field, or equivalent education and experience
  • Experience working with an HRIS, preferably Workday HCM
  • Experience explaining technical or complex concepts to staff/users
  • Experience creating HR or administrative dashboards/reports using Excel, Power BI, Tableau, SQL, or similar tools
  • Experience working in a higher education environment
  • Relevant coursework, training, and/or certifications as an HRIS Analyst

Target Salary Range: $50,000-$60,000 annually
