Job description

Cardiology Consultants of Philadelphia (CCP) is a professional medical organization committed to the healing mission of Medicine and is part of a national cardiology platform, Cardiovascular Logistics (CVL). CCP specializes in providing comprehensive cardiology care and currently has over 30 locations throughout the Philadelphia region. We are currently hiring for a Lab Director.
Responsibilities
  • Provide overall direction and administration of laboratory operations in accordance with CLIA regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and accreditation requirements.
  • Maintain availability to laboratory personnel and physicians for consultation regarding testing procedures, quality issues, and interpretation of results.
  • Conduct required onsite laboratory visits and document activities performed during each visit.
  • Review and approve laboratory policies, procedures, and quality management programs.
  • Ensure appropriate quality control, quality assurance, and proficiency testing processes are established and maintained.
  • Monitor laboratory performance and ensure corrective actions are implemented when deficiencies are identified.
  • Verify that testing methodologies and laboratory systems meet regulatory and patient care requirements.
  • Ensure personnel qualifications, training, competency assessments, and supervision meet applicable standards.
  • Support readiness for inspections and audits by regulatory agencies and accrediting bodies.

Qualifications
Candidates must meet the CLIA Laboratory Director qualifications for Moderate Complexity Testing and possess any licenses required by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Preferred qualifications include:
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) licensed in Pennsylvania.
  • Board certification in Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Pathology, or both; OR
  • Other qualifications permitted under CLIA regulations for laboratory directors of moderate complexity testing.
  • Prior experience directing or supervising nonwaived laboratory testing.
  • Knowledge of CLIA regulations, laboratory quality systems, proficiency testing, and regulatory compliance requirements.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to travel periodically to CCP laboratory locations in Blue Bell and Paoli.
  • Ability to perform onsite laboratory evaluations and inspections as required.

Working Conditions
This is a per diem consulting position requiring approximately 24 hours annually. The Laboratory Director is expected to maintain accessibility to laboratory staff via telephone or electronic communication and perform required onsite oversight activities in accordance with applicable CLIA regulations.
