Job description

Salary: $24 - $30 BOE

Lab Associate


Summary

As a Laboratory Associate at Inocras Inc, you will be responsible for assisting the laboratory team with performing Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) testing on cancer and rare disease samples. This position is primarily responsible for sample receipt and acceptance, including accessioning and preparation for downstream processes. This position is also responsible for helping the management team with quality related projects, preparation of reagents, inventory of laboratory supplies and other administrative tasks. This is an unlicensed laboratory position, reporting to the CLS Supervisor in our high complexity CAP/CLIA environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and accept/reject all patient samples as per standard operating procedures
  • Accession all incoming patient samples on a daily basis.
  • Receive and maintain reagents and consumables and coordinate reagent comparison testing.
  • Maintain inventory of all reagent consumables and tidy stock in laboratory spaces.
  • Assist CLS staff with daily cleaning and maintenance of the laboratory equipment.
  • Perform as needed in assay validation studies of laboratory developed tests.
  • Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and problem resolution on all laboratory equipment.
  • Assist with any quality related items including inspection preparation, tracer audits, and document review.
  • Other duties in the Genomics Core Lab including working with the Computational Biology and Translational Genomics teams, or other Inocras departments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possesses a bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution or higher.
  • 1-3 years minimum of laboratory experience, CLIA lab preferred.
  • Capable of excelling within a team environment; accomplishing assigned workload and any additional project(s) daily
  • Ability to communicate effectively, be highly organized, have attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Display a strong sense of urgency, accountability and responsibility for self.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to lift 15-20 pounds
  • Some repetitive pipetting will be required
