Assistant Human Resource Director


The Town of New Canaan is currently seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Human Resource Director. The purpose of this position is to assist in the development, management, administration, supervision and direction of the programs and activities of the Human Resource Department in the functional areas of recruitment and termination practices, labor relations, workers compensation, retirement, employee benefits, performance evaluation process, compensation and classification systems, human resources policies, procedures and human resource information systems. The Assistant Director of Human Resources is required to exercise considerable independent judgment in administering and managing the department and is responsible for maintaining and improving upon the efficiency and effectiveness of all areas under their direction and control.


Qualifications required would generally be acquired with a degree in Public Administration, Human Resources or related field and at least four years increasingly responsible work experience, including senior level management/supervisory capacity and experience in labor relations and benefits administration experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and work experience.
