Position Summary
The Dispensary Sales Associate (Budtender) is a customer-facing retail professional responsible for creating
an exceptional, compliant, and educational dispensary experience for medical and adult-use customers.
This position combines product knowledge, consultative selling, transaction accuracy, and operational
execution while following all applicable Division of Cannabis Control (DCC) requirements and company
standards.
Requirements
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Customer Experience & Sales
• Welcome every customer with professionalism, urgency, and a service-first mindset.
• Verify required identification and, when applicable, patient registration before completing transactions.
• Use thoughtful discovery questions to understand customer needs, preferences, experience level, and
budget.
• Educate customers on available product categories, cannabinoids, formats, potency, and responsible
use within the scope of the role.
• Recommend products confidently and accurately while supporting store sales goals, average order
value, units per transaction, promotions, and loyalty initiatives.
• Process transactions accurately through the point-of-sale system and handle cash and other approved
payment methods according to company policy.
• Resolve routine customer concerns professionally and escalate issues to leadership when appropriate.
Compliance & Transaction Accuracy
• Maintain an active Ohio Dispensary Employee License and comply with all DCC rules, company policies,
and required training.
• Complete sales and dispensing transactions accurately and maintain required records in approved state
tracking and POS systems.
• Follow purchase-limit, identification, product-handling, security, privacy, and recordkeeping requirements.
• Protect confidential customer and patient information and follow company privacy procedures.
• Immediately report suspected diversion, suspicious activity, transaction discrepancies, safety concerns,
or compliance issues to leadership.
• Follow all cash-handling, drawer accountability, discount, refund, and transaction-correction procedures.
Store Operations & Team Support
• Maintain a clean, organized, secure, and customer-ready sales floor, reception area, fulfillment area, and
assigned workstations.
• Assist with stocking, merchandising, labeling, order fulfillment, product organization, and other inventory-
support activities as assigned.
• Complete opening, closing, daily cleaning, and operational checklists accurately and on time.

• Maintain current product, promotion, policy, and SOP knowledge by actively participating in meetings
and training.
• Communicate effectively with peers and leaders and contribute to a respectful, accountable, and

• Perform other duties reasonably assigned in support of safe, compliant, and efficient dispensary

Qualifications
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must hold or be eligible to obtain the required Ohio Dispensary Employee License.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Retail, hospitality, sales, or other customer-facing experience preferred.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, active-listening, and customer-service skills.
• Comfortable learning cannabis products, retail technology, compliance requirements, and sales
processes.
• Basic math, computer, POS, and cash-handling skills.
• Must successfully complete required background checks and all company and DCC-compliant
onboarding requirements.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy, professionalism, and attention to
detail.
Physical & Scheduling Requirements
• Ability to remain standing or walking for extended periods during a scheduled shift.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and perform routine bending, reaching, and stocking activities.
• Manual dexterity and visual attention sufficient to operate registers, scan products, handle cash, and
read product labels.
• Must be available to work a flexible retail schedule that may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and
peak business periods.
