Job description

We are currently recruiting for a Digital Press Operator to join our team! The Digital Press Operator sets up and operates the HP Digital printing press to produce pressure sensitive labels and related products.

This position offers onsite training and the opportunity to learn a valuable skilled trade in the printing industry. Employees will have unlimited growth potential and the chance to continuously advance your career.

2nd Shift - 4:00pm-2:30am Mon-Thurs (10 hours)

1st shifts also available Mon-Thurs (10 hours)

Responsibilities:           

  • Produce high quality labels to meet the job specifications outlined on the label order to match customer standards
  • Inputs data including time and materials used into job management software
  • Reads job order and load jobs into press, with correct primers, tint roller’s,  stocks, counts, and color strategies
  • Starts press, verifying correct stock, alignment of stock, color calibrations, and sizing of piece before printing order, must inspect for imperfections and makes adjustments as necessary before printing order.
  • Adjusts color as necessary to verify color acracy of finished piece. X-rite / I1 table knowledge a plus
  • Cut, and save a full sample from each printed item. For sample library and ticket.  
  • Assist with finishing operations and duties as necessary
  • Communicates job specific information or changes to the supervisor in a timely manner to minimize production downtime
  • Report any production or press down time issues to supervisor in a timely manner
  • Keeps inventory usage accurate at all times
  • Performs daily, weekly and monthly maintenance as required, with basic technician part changes when needed
  • Keeps work areas clear and organized; maintains housekeeping standards
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of two years or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Two years of previous experience operating a HP digital press in a printing environment, and or proof of level 2 or higher certifications from HP, preferably web press (4-6 series equipment)
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Must be able to read and interpret ruler, scales and other measurement devices.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and is required to walk
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without mechanical assistance
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • May also participate in vendor sponsored training programs
