Aiken Regional Medical Centers has been ranked a top hospital in South Carolina by the American Heart Association for its treatment of heart attack, heart failure and Stroke, and most recently, coronary artery disease.

The Cardiac Catherization Tech assist Technologists, Technicians, and Physicians in performing radiologic, paramedical, hemodynamic, therapeutic, and clerical duties required in the care and assistance of patients. Complete billing, prolog, and database information, stock supplies and maintain equipment.
Duties:
Administers medications commonly used in the Cardiovascular Lab under direct supervision of a Physician
Perform routine procedures in accordance with established protocol.
Demonstrates an awareness of radiation safety procedures for self and others. Wears protective clothing, glasses, and remains behind protective enclosure during x-ray exposure.
Monitors procedures with skill in using specialized equipment as assigned in accordance with established protocols.
Assists the physician in the response to and management of all emergency situations.
Demonstrates the ability to perform in an accurate and timely manner during critical or emergency situations.
Utilizes necessary accessories to enhance image quality.
Demonstrates skills needed to monitor patient's hemodynamics, recognizing changes, and implementing appropriate interventions that meet our standards of patient care.
Ability to recognize EKG tracing changes in-patient and responds according to protocol.
Monitors procedures with skill in using specialized equipment as assigned in accordance with established protocols.
Demonstrates ability to function as a Scrub Tech during Cardiac Cath procedures, observes sterile field guidelines, practices aseptic techniques, and strictly obeys isolation and infection control policies.
Responsible for knowing and maintaining the measurements described in the conscious sedation policy.
Remove catheters and sheaths from patients and monitors homeostasis according to established protocols. Understands the procedures of the observation area.
Demonstrates ability to assist in the documentation of Quality Control and Preventive Maintenance. Completes documentation required by Cardiac Cath Lab, hospital, state, and federal requirements. Monitors and documents supplies on the crash cart.
Assists in the transportation of patients and ensures the patient is properly covered and continues assessment
Handles telephone information requests with courtesy, accuracy, and respect for confidentiality.
Maintains confidentiality and privacy of all data, records, forms, reports and procedures and any other information regarding customer relations of ARMC 100% of the time.
Provides explanation of procedures and properly records this education on patients' charts prior to performance of procedure; transfers patient to examination table, positions patient correctly, and assists patient at end of procedure.
Delivers direct patient care appropriate to the ages of the patients served.
Responsible for utilization of physiological monitoring and recording apparatus during special procedures.
Ensures that all patient charges are properly recorded and sent to the appropriate location.
Monitors and documents supplies on crash cart.
Responsible for supply utilization and ongoing maintenance. Assists in the inventory stocking and updating throughout the department.
Prepares room, equipment, contrast media and materials as needed for procedures.
Responsible for maintaining a clean, well-stocked and safe working environment; responsible for checking and testing equipment prior to use.
Properly warms equipment daily, and assures equipment is working properly. If equipment is not functioning properly, notifies the appropriate person.
Will perform a sponge count prior to the start of a pacemaker procedure and at the close of the procedure.
On-Call: Reports within 30 minutes for a call in. Has been scheduled for on-call services a fair share of the on -call schedule.
Responsible for reading and reviewing all material in departmental manuals yearly.
Must attend mandatory Hospital in-service annually and implement the safety precautions that are detailed in that education.
Attends all staff meetings unless absent from work or excused by Supervisor.
Practices patient care according to ARMC policy.

Requirements:
Education requirements: Registered CVT, Registered CIS or Registered RT; BCLS certified, ACLS certified within one year of hire.
Work experience requirements: Requires timely and accurate performance under stress. Must act independently without specific instructions in a self-confident manner.
Required licenses/ certifications/courses: Must be licensed by the LLR or SCRQS for the appropriate registered license.
