JOB SUMMARY:

The Lab Tech/Lab Assistant provides patient care in a primary/family care practice under the direction of a physician, physician assistant or nurse practitioner. In this role, the certified medical assistant serves patients of all ages including children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs quality control, monitors equipment temperatures, and perform daily lab tasks.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance on diagnostic equipment.
  • Performs routine laboratory and general tasks necessary for daily operation of laboratory.
  • Collects, prs, cleans, and stores lab equipment.
  • Performs phlebotomy and maintains records and lab files
  • Perform CLIA waived and routine moderate complexity laboratory tests.
  • Key data into electronic medical records, and or other similar office procedures
  • Inventory and stock reagents and chemical solutions and materials.
  • Adhere to all standards of care, Code of Conduct, and HIPAA Compliance
  • Assist with other duties as assigned

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • High School graduate or equivalent education

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • One (1) year of experience as a laboratory processor or laboratory assistant. Current enrollment in a Medical Laboratory Technician program may be substituted for experience.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate of a Medical Laboratory Technician program preferred. (Certification not required)
  • Current Basic Life Support card from the American Heart Association, prior to hire date
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, coordinate, prioritize, and facilitate many on-going tasks
  • Must be organized and attentive to detail, and able to work quickly and efficiently to assure
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional appearance
  • Positive attitude and ability to effectively work in a team environment
