Actively Screening for Lab Technician - Chemist to join product repair company in Marietta, GA!



Job Description

The Lab Technician will engage in daily lab tasks to support the development of new paint formulas. This includes preparing panels, monitoring dry times, conducting adhesion tests, and documenting results. The role involves working 50% in the lab, 30% in documentation, and 20% in communication with external labs and team members.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct laboratory testing including viscosity, lap shear adhesion, and tensile strength, with a focus on adhesives, sealants, and coatings.
  • Prepare, conduct, and report on product testing and development.
  • Maintain detailed and organized documentation of work performed.
  • Practice safe work habits and comply with all Environmental, Health, and Safety policies and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in chemistry, formulation, and laboratory settings.
  • 3+ years of experience with silicone, epoxy, consumer adhesive, polyester, or polyurethane.
  • BS in Chemistry, Polymer Science, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Experience with pencil hardness testing, posi testing, cross-hatch testing, and new product development.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in a lab setting with independent execution of test procedures.
  • Relevant college degree or equivalent experience.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Eligible to work in the USA.
  • Ability to lift, pull, and push up to 35 lb.
  • Basic computer skills including proficiency with MS Office applications.
  • Ability to work on both self-directed and team-oriented projects.
  • Excellent quantitative math skills and strong written/verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Work Environment

The Lab Technician will work from 8 AM to 4 PM, Monday through Friday, totaling 40 hours per week. The position is based in a lab environment with mixing equipment and an outdoor area for spraying panels. The lab is divided into two large rooms, and a computer will be provided for documentation. Candidates will work around paint and solvents, with a respirator available upon request. The team comprises 7 members within a company of approximately 15-175 employees, with 20-30 based in Atlanta. Less than 10% travel is required.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
