Job description

Shift-Nights
The Patient Care Technician is responsible for:
Under the supervision of a nurse, and taking into consideration the developmental needs of the patient, performs routine patient activities and delegated patient care procedures of a specialized and technical nature as competency documentation designates.
  • Assist the patient with changing/dressing
  • Transports the patient by stretcher, bed, or wheelchair (this is a large part of the job)
  • Identifies abnormal findings that could adversely affect surgical and patient outcomes, including abnormal vital signs, Accucheck results, lab, EKG, and CXR results
  • Report all abnormal findings to the appropriate nursing staff
  • Escorts patients to holding rooms
  • Assists with patient changing, and removal of belongings such as jewelry, dentures, contact lenses, etc.
  • Verifies patient information
  • Orients patients and families to the environment
  • Obtains vital signs

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Provides basic clinical skills required to safely perform routine delegated patient care activities, record and report pertinent clinical data, knowledge and use of specialized patient care equipment
Required Licensure, Certification, On-going Training:
1. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
2. BLS certification provided by AHA, American Red Cross, or Military Training Network
Work Experience:
One year of clinical experience is required or successful completion of the intern program

Salary Range: Minimum 18.41/hour - Maximum 27.70/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
