We are entering an exciting phase for electrophysiology (EP) services in the Wake Area, with plans to expand EP procedural capabilities into the Greensboro market and the ambulatory surgery center (ASC) setting. This role will be essential in advancing these efforts by performing EP procedures and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe patient care.
Pay Range
$35.50 - $53.25
The Cardiovascular Specialist will deliver exceptional and streamlined patient care during Electrophysiology Lab procedures by documenting, circulating, and scrubbing. You will work alongside a care team of electrophysiologists, cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, and other specialists to provide state-of the art therapies for patients with simple to complex arrythmias.
Our Electrophysiology team is proud to be among the first in the region using a next-generation system that represents a major leap forward in AFib care - this leads to more flexibility and precision, helping improve safety, reduce risk, and shorten recovery times.
Position Highlights:
  • Sign-On Bonus: $15,000 sign on bonus, provided the candidate meets the eligibility requirements.
  • Department: Electrophysiology Lab - Specializes in the various electrical disorders of the heart, including heart rhythm disorders. Examples of procedures include: catheter ablations, implantable defibrillators, pacemakers, cardioversion, MAZE procedure, teletrace transmitter, and the Watchman.
  • Location: Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center is a thriving, nationally renowned academic medical center and Level I Trauma Center that includes 885-beds. The medical center is centrally located in the state of North Carolina, which is known as "The Triad."

Education & Experience Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with current license as a Registered Nurse in NC and two years of RN experience preferred
    or
  • Completion of an Allied Health Technology Program (Radiologic Technology, Respiratory Therapy, etc.) with registry or license as it pertains to field of expertise and two years experience in a Cardiac Catheterization Lab preferred
    or
  • Completion of Cardiovascular Interventional Program

Skills & Qualifications:
  • Two years of experience of experience within registry/license scope preferred
  • CPR certification upon hire; ACLS certification within 90 days
  • Proficient in procedure room roles (Circulator, Recorder, Scrubbing)
  • Competencies in: Ablation and device room set-up, simple ablation and device procedures, TEE guided cardioversions, and Implantable Loop Recorders
  • Professional communication skills with diverse age groups
  • Analytical skills for scheduling, equipment, and instruction comprehension

Job Responsibilities (Not Limited To):
  • Emergency Preparedness: Ensure emergency equipment and supplies are always ready; Recognize and respond to potential emergency situations as needed.
  • Ensure Safe & Therapeutic Environment: Promote safety practices & standards, maintain knowledge of equipment operation, adhere to equipment safety guidelines & report any malfunctions.
  • Record Keeping: Complete & maintain accurate departmental records and logs in a timely manner by entering patient data and charges into electronic system, and safeguard patient privacy & confidentiality.
  • Communication: Maintain professional relationship with patients, families, and colleagues through effective communication and responsiveness; sensitively address conflicts & concerns as needed.
  • On-Call: Provides coverage for 24-hour emergency call for Cardiac Cath Lab. Rotating on call responsibilities with other staff members. Responding in a timely fashion (within 25 minutes) to emergency calls. Facilitating activities between departments to ensure prompt patient care.
  • Patient Care: Monitor & evaluate patient stability during procedures, administer medications & treatments under supervision, and assist with advanced procedures.
  • Education & Consultation: Offer mentorship and support to co-workers & trainees, participate in Continuing Education & in-service opportunities, and performs / maintains assigned point-of-care testing and annual competencies.
  • Age-Specific Care: Provide age-appropriate care considering physical, mental, and developmental factors; Regularly update knowledge on age-specific guidelines.
