Laboratory Operations Intern

Mountain View, CA

Matx is developing advanced rack- and POD-level infrastructure systems to support next-generation high-performance computing and AI workloads. Our focus is on delivering highly reliable, thermally efficient, and scalable hardware solutions, including cutting-edge liquid cooling architectures and mechanical systems.

We are building vertically integrated platforms that combine mechanical design, thermal management, packaging, and system-level engineering to ensure robust performance under extreme operating conditions. We are looking for engineers who are passionate about reliability engineering, system validation, and cross-functional product development.

What You'll Do
  • Help cross-functional teams solve mechanical and thermal problems in the lab on liquid cooling or mechanical structures
  • Sketch schematics for the laboratory to make suppliers understand the mechanical and thermal needs
  • Draft reports of the experimental investigation in the laboratory and co-work with the team in analysis.
  • Hands-on with CAD software for design analysis and understanding of the hardware.
  • Keeping track of schedules of delivery of multiple items to the lab and helping the suppliers in fixing the testing equipment and following up on any kind of further improvements of the setup
  • Experimental investigation of mechanical parameters and constraints in the laboratory
  • Should be involved in design discussions of mechanical and thermal design to understand the setup and draft required design versions to have a track of the discussions and design versions
  • Need to follow up on the schedule of multiple mechanical and thermal components in the EVT, DVT, PVT, and MP phases with the ODM and other suppliers
Who You Are
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong understanding of: Mechanical and thermal test setup, Scheduling and drafting reports of tests and lab components.
  • Experience with: Design of Experiments (DOE)
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional engineering teams
Bonus Points If You Have
  • Knowledge of: HVAC or Liquid cooling systems, Laboratory expertise, Basic Product management expertise for scheduling
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making skills
Work Location

This is a hybrid role based in our Mountain View, CA office, with in-office work Tuesday through Thursday. In exceptional cases, remote work arrangements may be considered.
