Job description

Research Technician - Analytical Lab
- Location: 100% on-site Northborough, MA 01532
- Work Schedule: Mon to Fri, 8 am to 5 pm
- Pay rate: $20-$25/h
- Contract: W2 under staffing supplier; with a 1-year duration.
 

Qualifications

  • Experience: 1–5 years in a technician, testing, or quality lab environment; experience following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and handling chemicals safely.

  • Education: High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree or higher is a plus.

  • Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with material/product characterization, lab equipment troubleshooting, calibration, vendor coordination, and detailed documentation.

  • Software/Tools: Proficient with PCs and MS Office (especially Excel for charting/graphing and Word). Note: Company laptop will be provided.

  • Soft Skills: Clear communication with diverse teams and project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Testing & R&D Support: Perform standard and non-routine analytical testing to characterize materials, collaborating with scientists and engineers to solve technical issues.

  • Method & SOP Development: Execute assigned experiments, assist in developing/improving test methods, and update SOPs alongside project leaders.

  • Data Management: Collect, analyze, and document test data using Excel; report findings clearly while maintaining data integrity and compliance.

  • Equipment Maintenance: Set up, calibrate, troubleshoot, and perform preventive maintenance on lab equipment, coordinating with external service vendors to minimize downtime.

  • Safety & Operations: Safely handle specialized R&D assignments, equipment operations, and chemical processes.
