Description
We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Adhesion & Laser Process Lab Engineer to join our advanced manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and sustaining precision adhesive joint systems and laser processing operations within a state-of-the-art lab environment. You will work at the intersection of materials science, process engineering, and manufacturing innovation, partnering closely with cross-functional teams and external suppliers to drive process excellence.
The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in precision adhesive processes, practical laser equipment operation experience, and a passion for continuous improvement. This is a highly collaborative, fast-paced role that requires strong experimental design skills, clear communication with leadership, and the ability to independently manage multiple priorities. You must be comfortable working in required PPE and thrive in an environment that demands both scientific rigor and hands-on problem solving.","responsibilities":"Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes for complex adhesive joint systems in a lab environment
Collaborate with internal cross functional partners & external suppliers to design experiments consisting of scope definition, adhesive selection, adhesive joint design, and design of fixtures/assembly tools that support repeatability, efficiency and reliability
Prioritize, schedule, design, and conduct adhesive process investigations. Throughout experiment, communicate progress, document and present results to leadership teams.
Operate and maintain lab equipment to support trials, including working with suppliers for maintenance, repairs and upgrades, developing detailed work instructions, process flows, and assembly documentation
Practical experience operating laser processing equipment for marking, ablation, and cutting applications, with the ability to rapidly learn new laser platforms and techniques.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives to increase yield and reduce defects in adhesive processes
Seek out new, cutting edge adhesive process technologies to keep the lab aligned with the latest industry innovations
Document and create clear reports and specifications that can be understood and reproduced by other teams
Work with regulatory and facility team to ensure tools and materials in the lab are operating within required safety standards.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience designing experiments focused on selecting optimal adhesive chemistry, processes and joint designs
Familiar with operating, including programming, various dispense tools.
Familiar and comfortable working in required PPE
Hands on, fast learner, excited to design trials, debug and fix equipment/tools.
Detailed oriented, organized, self starter, and motivated in a fast-paced work environment
Proficient in CAD (NX, Catia, Solidworks)
Minimum Qualifications
3-5+ years relevant experience working with precision adhesive processes such as dispense and lamination
BS minimum (MS preferred) in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or relevant STEM field
International travel up to 20%
This is not a hybrid role and requires 100% onsite work in the lab
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $128,400 and $193,800, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
