Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary:
Position Description:The Lab Technician supports students, faculty, and staff on all their endeavors in the Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship's Maker Lab. Additionally, the Lab Technician drives traffic into the lab through regular introductory workshops. It's the Institute's mission to promote innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship throughout the community, and ensuring a welcoming, supportive, and well-maintained Maker Lab is key to enacting our mission.
Lab Technician responsibilities include:
  • Hosting regular introductory workshops to train students, faculty, and staff how to use Maker Lab equipment
  • Hosting regular office hours in the Maker Lab to assist students, faculty, and staff with projects of all kinds
  • Maintaining Maker Lab equipment to ensure it's in optimal working order at all times
  • Determining new tools and technologies to acquire for the lab
  • Maintaining a safe environment within the lab
  • Completing special Maker Lab projects

Additionally, the Lab Technician manages daily operations within the Idea Lab. Responsibilities include:
  • Welcoming community members into the space
  • Cleaning/maintaining the Idea Lab, patio, and maker lab

Requirements:
We're especially interested in students with the following:
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling and 3D printer slicing software
  • 3D printer maintenance experience
  • Glowforge operation and maintenance experience
  • Sewing, knitting, or other textile experience
  • General knowledge of electronics
  • A sense of humor
