Job description

Position: Research Engineer

Location: Malvern, PA 19355

Duration : 6+ months

Shift: 08.00am – 04.30pm


Qualifications:

Job Summary

As a Research Engineer the candidate will, under supervision, utilize basic scientific principles and techniques to undertake specific tasks and projects with limited scope. The incumbent will document their work carefully and thoroughly. The candidate will demonstrate an open and collaborative approach in all areas of responsibility. Good written and oral communication skills are required.

The incumbent may report to a Group Leader or an individual contributor under the supervision of the Group Leader. In addition, the incumbent may be asked to carry out laboratory testing for other Research Engineers with the approval and supervision of their manager.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, on time, well documented, and within budget to meet business and customer objectives. The candidate will be supporting projects relative to product performance improvement, understanding product key performance attributes, raw material competency, new laboratory test development, and recurring plant testing.
  • Hands on capability, able to transition from lab environment to workshop environment.
  • Reports project progress through means of communication such as oral presentations, written reports, and laboratory procedures.
  • Takes active role in the laboratory in safety and equipment-related activities such as updating safety information, organizing 5S activities, and taking responsibility for team cooperation in all safety-related topics.
  • Maintain lab notebook to record data related to key projects.


COMPETENCIES:

  • Demonstrated capacity to work in a 5s environment while maintaining good lab skills
  • Demonstrated basic knowledge of HSE.
  • Ability to work in a lab environment, building relationships and establishing support to execute projects in a cross-functional environment.


Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics or other scientific disciplines.


Preferred: Engineering degree Materials courses Polymer courses and/or exposure as co-op/intern Co-Op or Intern exposure in a laboratory setting
