Job Description Summary
Performs routine and specialized moderate and high complexity laboratory tests on all types of blood and body fluid specimens under minimal supervision. Insures accurate and reliable test results by adhering to a strict quality control program. Performs instrument function checks and preventative maintenance procedures according to department’s policies and procedures. Maintains records and statistical data according to regulative requirements. Teaches new employees and students laboratory policies and procedures. Collects chain of custody urine drug screens as required. Assists as needed in all laboratory areas as required to maintain appropriate patient care. Assists in covering other shifts when necessary.

Job Description
Performs diagnostic testing on patient samples to aid physicians in the diagnosis and/or monitoring of various disease states. Follows standardized procedures and helps prepare samples for testing. Analyzes test results for accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits.
Education: Associates Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field or any equivalent combination of education and experience in the medical laboratory. Must meet qualification requirements for testing personnel set forth in Title 42, Sec. 493.1489, CLIA

Education: Bachelor of Science degree In Medical Technology or relevant medical or scientific discipline. Experience: None. Certification: Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist by ASCP BOC or equivalent, or relevant categorical certification preferred at the time of hire, however, if not certified, certification must be obtained within the first year of employment.
