Job description

Iberia Medical Center(IMC) in New Iberia, LA is looking for team members who will help advance ourvision to be the premier hospital of choice for patients, physicians andemployees. IMC is currently hiringa Medical Lab Technician, who is responsible for maintaining skills in manual and automated testing of moderate and high complexity in all sections of the laboratory, which include chemistry, hematology and coag, urinalysis, microbiology, blood bank, and immunology; following QC and QA protocols; becoming proficient in using the Laboratory Information System; abiding by all regulatory requirements including CAP, TJC, CMS, and OIG legal lab compliance; and participating in proficiency testing.   

Education, Skills, and Experience:

 Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technology is required, a Bachelors degree is preferred;    
 Certification as Medical Laboratory Technician by ASCP or AMT; 
 Current license as a Clinical Laboratory Technician with the LSBME;
 6 months Clinical training through an approved MLT training hospital or previous MLT experience;
Working knowledge of testing of waived, moderate, and high complexity in the following disciplines: General Chemistry, Special Chemistry, Therapeutic Drugs, Toxicology, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Blood Bank, Parasitology, Serology, and Microbiology; and
Analytical computer skills and knowledge of laboratory workflow.
