Position Description:
Position Summary:
The purpose of the Part time Academic Success Center Lab Associate - Support Staff is to assist with appropriate technology tools, help users navigate Academic Success Center and college resources, and provide detailed records of transactions and services. The Academic Success Center provides on campus and remote services to students.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Become familiar with all Learning Resource Division resources and accurately direct users to appropriate resources on campus and virtually.
  • Act as a resource to Academic Success Center users; help familiarize users with software and hardware, assists students in identifying appropriate technology to complete homework, and proactively recommend Academic Success Center resources to students.
  • Provide excellent learning-focused assistance to students and other users on MS Office Suite, G Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Canvas, Zoom and other instructional and course-related software applications.
  • Demonstrate ability and interest in learning new technology tools and sharing new knowledge with colleagues.
  • Provide instruction to all Academic Success Center users on proper use of all equipment including laptops, PC's, Macintosh computers, hotspots, printers, copiers, and copy card machine.
  • Actively participate in the research, development and delivery of student-centered workshops that feature technology and applications that are relevant to students and align with curriculum.
  • Actively participate in the planning and execution of student outreach to build relationships with individual students and for departmental promotion.
  • Attend department and division meetings as assigned by supervisor.
  • Serve as lead on assigned projects.
  • Regular attendance on campus is required for this position.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Support Operations of Academic Success Center including:
  • Acting as the initial contact for Academic Success Center users.
  • Opening and/or closing the Academic Success Center areas.
  • Performing routine duties such as maintaining general cleanliness, filling paper in printers, and monitoring supply levels.
  • Supporting a safe and secure learning environment and assisting in policy management and enforcement of the Academic Success Center areas.
  • Maintaining accurate records of activities undertaken in the Academic Success Center which includes technology borrowing program and user interactions and usage.
  • Providing timely and accurate responses to questions from students, staff, faculty, and the community through email, phone, and in person. Refer students to additional campus resources, such as Disability Services, Academic Advisors, Success Coaches, and the Student Resource Center, as needed.
  • Reporting software, hardware, equipment, and facility issues to supervisor and appropriate campus departments.
  • Maintaining organized storage and accurate record keeping of computer software and hardware.

Related Duties:
  • Assist with training, delegation, and general supervision of Academic Success Center Student Workers.
  • Interact with other WCC departments to maintain usability and access of services, equipment, and facilities.
  • Participate in continuing education related to job function including attending departmental trainings, annual essential training, recommended professional development programs, and in-service sessions as assigned by supervisor.
  • Collaborate with Learning Resource Division staff on shared duties.
  • Utilize technology, including AI-enabled tools and software where appropriate, to support the effective performance of assigned duties, enhance productivity, improve communication and information management, support decision-making, and other responsibilities, while ensuring compliance with confidentiality requirements, institutional policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.

Hours/Schedule: All applicants must be available for work during daytime, weekend, and evening hours, with no fewer than 15 hours of availability during Academic Success Center operating hours.

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent and 2-5 years relevant work experience.
  • Must demonstrate attention to detail in both accuracy and efficiency.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with diverse users of all ages, ethnicities, genders, and backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated successful customer-service experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to assume responsibility and work enthusiastically with minimal supervision.
  • Understanding of the importance of user privacy and ability to follow the follow the campus rules related to confidentiality.
  • Experience with computer equipment and related software and recordkeeping procedures.
  • Must have excellent communication skills.
  • Must have exceptional problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Must have strong organizational skills as well as effective time management abilities.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility and ease of responsiveness in a rapidly changing work environment.
  • Ability to use workplace technology relevant to the position, including the capacity to learn and appropriately leverage emerging AI-supported tools. Ability to assess the accuracy and reliability of AI-generated content, maintain confidentiality, and apply sound judgment and ethical practices in the use of technology.
