Job description

AllSTEM Connections is seeking a Lab Assistant to work onsite in Kennesaw, GA.
This is a 12-month contract position. Possible extension/temp-to-hire.
Hourly rate is $18/hour.
M-F, 8AM - 5PM.
SUMMARY:
The Lab Assistant will support a variety of short- and long-term projects with minimal supervision from the Senior Research Scientist. This hands-on role involves assisting with project execution, including the preparation of reagents and media for relevant assays.
The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in microbiology, be proficient in basic laboratory mathematics and unit conversions, and possess skills in media and reagent preparation. Responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness of the hoods, cleaning glassware, preparing reagents and preparing media.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
• Conduct regular equipment validation and maintenance checks.
• Prepare media and reagents in volumes appropriate for weekly workload requirements.
• Assist the Senior Research Scientist in drafting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for new protocols.
• Comply with SOPs, batch records, and controlled documentations
• Ensure compliance with cGMP regulations, guidelines, and safety procedures
• Collaborate with other team members to compile, analyze, and interpret data
• Maintain familiarity with current scientific literature and contribute to the process of intra/interdepartmental projects

• Local travel (between sites): ?25% [Less than 1 mile]
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Associates Degree with focus in Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or a related field; or HS diploma/GED with 1 year related experience.
• Prior laboratory experience in microbiology, biology, biochemistry, or chemistry.
• Familiarity with creating media and reagents.
• Competency in essential laboratory techniques, including unit conversions, pipetting, weighing, and serial dilutions.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Exceptional attention to detail to ensure accurate, precise, and reproducible data for scientific investigations.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Results-driven and task-oriented with a strong work ethic.
• Skilled in collaborating across departments to compile, analyze, and interpret data.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license.
PREFERRED
• Knowledge of Quality Control principles and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
• Experience in the usage of an autoclave.
• Experience with serial dilutions.
