The Richmond Campus of Bryant & Stratton College is accepting applications for a part-time Skills Lab/Simulation Technician.
Under the direction of the Simulation Lab Supervisor, this individual will have the following responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Dean of Nursing (or designee), Clinical Coordinator, Faculty, and Simulation Lab Supervisor in managing the simulation center to ensure efficient usage, access for students, and support for faculty (in preparation of and during simulation sessions).
  • Assist the faculty and Simulation Lab Supervisor to coordinate and schedule lab/simulation sessions.
  • Equipment setup and breakdown includes setting up patient simulators, task trainers, hospital equipment, supplies, and audiovisual equipment and availability for each lab/simulation.
  • Utilizing and maintaining medical equipment such as IV pumps.
  • Preparing and applying moulage - simulated injuries, wounds, bruising - to standardized patients and simulators.
  • Operate Software (operating systems, applications, simulator software) management, maintenance, and implementation.
  • Perform manikin maintenance.
  • Administration and operation of learning/center management systems to record simulations, manage case information, collect faculty, student, and standardized patient evaluations, track learner contact hours, and report on center data and utilization.
  • Inventory management and ordering of supplies and assets to meet student and faculty needs.
  • Prepare for clinical simulations using high-fidelity simulation mannequins/equipment.
  • Assisting with technology and simulation best-practice training for faculty and staff, including safe simulation practices.
  • Model life-long learning; continuous professional development.
  • Participate on Simulation Committee.
  • Must be available to work evenings and weekends.
  • Other assignments as needed.

Required Qualifications/Competencies:
  • Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) preferred.
  • Working knowledge of traditional computer software (e-mail, Microsoft Word, etc).
  • Ability to program, troubleshoot, manage, and maintain simulation equipment, including simulation computer software and video camera equipment.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, time management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional development and student success.
  • Strong team player.
  • Ability to make meaningful and positive connections with diverse student body in a career college environment.
