Akron General is looking to add a Lab Technician II to the Laboratory team.In this role, you willbe responsible forreceiving and distributingspecimensas well as performingmanual processing.This is a very hands-on team anda great placeto get your foot in the door. This role can not only lead to growth within the lab but also the ability to move into other roles such as nursing.

Acaregiver in this position worksnights from11:00PM - 7:30AM, including rotating weekendsand holidays.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Receive andaccessionlaboratory specimens into the LIS.

  • Retrieve, sort,trackand deliver specimens.

  • Accept or reject specimens according to established standards.

  • Perform specimen investigation procedures to resolve lab specimen issues or problems.

  • Verifyaccuratedocumentationrelativeto specimen processing.

  • Maintain patient,specimenand tracking data using the laboratory computer system, tracking software/devices.

  • Prepare specimens for analysis.

  • Perform manual processing (centrifuge, aliquoting and routine maintenance).

  • Perform preventive maintenance, record keeping procedures,basic clericalfunctionsand the placing ofwork orders.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • One year of lab experience

  • ORAssociate'sDegree(will substitute for up to one year of experience)

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Associate's Degree in Science

  • Computerproficiency


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform specimen handling techniques and take measurements.
  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.
  • Ability to move throughout the department and hospital system.

  • Ability to differentiate color, hue, saturation, and tones.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $19.25

Maximum hourly: $29.30
