Lab Assistant (Seasonal)

Location: Salisbury, MD
Pay Rate: $17–28/hr on W2
Duration: Seasonal (6 Months: June–November 2026)
Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 5:30 AM – Until Finished (Typically 4:00 PM–4:30 PM)

Job Summary: We are seeking Seasonal Lab Assistants to support the Limulus Amebocyte Lysate (LAL) Production Operation in Salisbury, MD. This role involves assisting with the collection and processing of horseshoe crab blood used in pharmaceutical testing, as well as tagging horseshoe crabs for the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.

Selected candidates will receive training on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), aseptic processing techniques, and laboratory disinfecting procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the horseshoe crab blood collection process following approved SOPs.
  • Prepare collection areas, clean and prepare horseshoe crabs, aseptically collect blood, and perform end-of-day cleaning and disinfection.
  • Support laboratory blood processing activities, including:
    • Centrifugation
    • Pipetting
    • Sonication
    • Solution preparation
    • Cleaning and disinfecting laboratory work areas
  • Aseptically handle filled and unfilled collection bottles inside biological safety cabinets (hoods).
  • Complete production documentation accurately and in a timely manner following SOPs.
  • Clean, maintain, and sanitize production equipment.
  • Tag horseshoe crabs with U.S. Fish & Wildlife identification tags.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1–2 years of experience in a production, manufacturing, laboratory, or similar environment preferred.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written procedures.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
