NATIONAL CENTER FOR CONSTRUCTION EDUCATION & RESEARCH (NCCER) 
CERTIFIED TRAINING INSTRUCTOR - PART TIME 
KENNENDY-KING COLLEGE

National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) is a nationally recognized nonprofit organization that develops standardized training, curriculum, and credentials for the construction and skilled trades industry. The NCCER Certified Training Instructor delivers high-quality, competency-based instruction in construction trades through Continuing Education programs. This role focuses on preparing students for careers in the skilled trades by providing hands-on training, classroom instruction, and industry-recognized NCCER certifications. The instructor plays a key role in bridging education to workforce opportunities by aligning training with employer expectations, apprenticeship pathways, and regional workforce needs. The position supports student success by equipping learners with technical skills, safety knowledge, and job readiness competencies required for employment in high-demand construction fields
 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Deliver NCCER-aligned curriculum in construction trades (e.g., carpentry, electrical, HVAC, core craft).
  • Facilitate both classroom and hands-on lab/shop instruction.
  • Assess student performance using NCCER competency-based standards.
  • Track student progress and credentials using the NCCER Registry System.
  • Prepare students for industry-recognized certifications and employment pathways.
  • Maintain a safe, OSHA-aligned training environment.
  • Reinforce employability and job readiness skills in all instruction.
  • Utilize learning management systems (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas) and instructional technology.
  • Collaborate with workforce development teams and employer partners to align training with industry demand.

Qualifications

  • NCCER Certified Instructor credential.
  • Current NCCER certification in a specific craft area (e.g., Core, Carpentry, Electrical, HVAC)
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in the construction or skilled trades industry.
  • Experience teaching or training adult learners, apprentices, or workforce participants.
  • Strong hands-on technical expertise in construction trades.
  • Knowledge of competency-based instruction and performance assessment.
  • Ability to connect training to workforce pathways and employer expectations.
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
  • Strong safety awareness and familiarity with OSHA standards.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Experience with learning management systems and instructional technologies.
  • Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as needed.
  • Education requirements are flexible; industry certifications and experience are prioritized over formal degrees.

Salary Range: $60 per hour
