What role you will play in our team
You will lead a team of 8 people responsible for identification, development and E2E delivery of the Global MDC (Marine Dry Cargo), iso/flexi tanks, freight forwarders and Port Agency sourcing/category strategies with ultimate goal of maximizing value capture while ensuring ongoing Procurement support to Operations.
What you will do
  • Lead the organization that develops, implements, and owns commercial category strategies and plans to deliver business value
  • Identify opportunities to fill the value capture pipeline; stewards execution
  • Oversee the development of Logistics Category Procurement Strategies plans by Category Managers
  • Drive alignment with EMSC stakeholders to develop and execute commercial/go-to-market strategies
  • Lead key supplier interfaces & supports Supplier Engagement with key suppliers with Category Managers, Contract Managers, & the Business Line
  • Serve as a liaison between Logistics Regional Procurement, Category Managers & the business line (central and regional) to align on value integration plans
  • Own, benchmark, and steward Category metrics / KPIs
  • Develop people: coach, mentor, succession plan, etc.
  • Create and/or support creation of category tools to drive value
  • Support agreement development (standardized templates, scopes of work, bid evaluation, compensation, etc.)
  • Responsible for operational integrity (safety/controls)
  • Accountable for compliance and training on Procurement processes and tools
  • Balance workload to meet business needs, including resourcing
  • Identify and drives continuous improvement and optimization

About you
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelors in Maritime Business / Maritime Transportation/mariner/supply chain/industrial engineer/global trade or customs management
  • Experience with commercial strategy development, Ocean freight procurement experience (carrier negotiations, RFPs, contracts), business development, category management, ocean carrier network, Knowledge of container shipping market dynamics, ocean carrier management, global trade, international container shipping
  • Experience with Purchase-to-Pay processes and systems (SAP, Ariba, Docusign, etc.)
  • Strategic thinker, commercial edge, thought leader, change champion, CI mindset
  • Strong leadership/people development skills: ability to set clear expectations, stretch targets, coach/mentor and hold people accountable to elevate capability of the organization
  • Strong collaboration, influencing skills and analytics
  • High energy, strong work ethics, resilience, drive

Preferred qualifications:
  • MBA or Masters in Logistics & Transportation from an accredited college or university
  • CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management), CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional), CLTD (Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution), Certified Ocean Transportation professional program
