Position Overview
The Nuclear Engineer, Safety Analysis will further the design and engineering of nuclear reactor technologies by supporting activities undertaken by the Safety Analysis group. The focus of this group is to perform analysis to assess the safety performance of the reactor design and work with engineering to deliver on safety goals.
Responsibilities
  • Develop methods, models, and data to analyze reactor system safety performance. Areas of analysis may include mechanistic source term analysis, consequence analysis, graphite performance, and system transient modeling.
  • Provide feedback and insight to reactor engineering, including on materials selection, materials performance, and system requirements.
  • Participate in team-wide engineering efforts, for example by: providing input to engineering test facility design; contributing to assessments of system failure modes; and responding to NRC questions.
  • Prepare technical reports for internal and external stakeholders

Qualifications
  • M.S./PhD in Nuclear Engineering or related field.
  • B.S. +3 years experience in Nuclear Engineering or related field
  • Strong foundations in relevant technical areas, potentially including: reactor physics, thermal hydraulics, safety analysis, fuel performance, materials performance, system analysis, and PRA.
  • Strong foundations in developing models, performing analysis, and assessing results.
  • Commitment to an inclusive and collaborative team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to self-motivate; proactive and independent identification, prioritization, and execution of tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills; demonstrated ability to organize and communicate technical information to teammates, leaders, high-level stakeholders, and customers.
