Job description

Position Summary

Crescent Maintenance Technician Level 3 is responsible to perform maintenance duties committed to meeting all our customer's need, and people's needs. Ensuring he operators as outlined in the Crescent Way- 3 P's:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Safety

  • Read and understand the Crescent Safety Playbook - Doing it Safe.
  • Ensure a safe work environment is maintained.
  • Engage in the Safety Observation process
  • Ensure a preventive maintenance tasks are completed one time and correctly.
  • Ensure all equipment is operating safely
  • Ensure all maintenance work is being completed in a safe manner
  • Ensure a clean and organized work space, and hold themselves to a high standard and lives the "leave work areas better than found them".
  • Continually seek out and remove forms of risk created by our equipment and equipment setup

People

  • Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting capabilities
  • Main resource in training for all other personnel at Crescent, especially automation / robotics equipment training.
  • Assess to ensure the fair and accurate evaluation of each person's performance and potential.
  • Recognize to ensure each person feels appreciated for the value they provide.
  • Lead people to encourage maximum performance and dedication, teach and develop (in a technical manner) when needed
  • Effectively communicate issues and opportunities to Leadership and customer when required.
  • Participate in meetings, both customer and Crescent when required.

Productivity

  • Continually explore the competitive use of technology and capital, providing Crescent and customers with flexibility and improved productivity.
  • Ensure all line setup are done correctly, safely and on time.
  • Ensure all PM's are completed on time.
  • Look for and create Continuous improvement ideas
  • Look for ways to expand the capability and capacity of existing automation and other packaging equipment.
  • Communicate issues and opportunities to the site General Manager.

Quality

  • Ensure all equipment is operating in a manner that produces quality product.
  • Communicate any suspected quality issues to the appropriate person
  • Participate in root cause analysis on quality issues and be part of corrective action development.
  • Provide consultation along with Quality leader and Ops leadership on all new builds to ensure "quality at the source" design.

Customer Value

  • Ensure the completion of all required PM's - Crescent and Customer owned equipment.
  • Provide real time support to customer trials, samples and visits.
  • Provided cost improvement ideas to Crescent and the customer when required.

Financial

  • Responsible to specify, source and select cost effective equipment, spare parts and services.
  • Be knowledgeable of the Site Maintenance budget
  • Leverage assists to reduce Crescent's manufacturing costs.

Other duties as assigned - including best practice sharing between sites, project work, travel, improvement events etc.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • 5+ Years' experience in packaging equipment maintenance or other related function

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Lean manufacturing and/or continual process improvement experience
  • Experienced in packaging systems maintenance including:
    • Flow Wrapping
    • Cartoner
    • Conveyors
    • Pallet Wrappers
    • Robotic palletizing systems
  • Experienced in robot programming, components etc.
  • Experienced in PLC troubleshooting
  • Experienced in printing technologies
  • Electrical Troubleshooting - servos, drives and motors
