Raytheon is seeking a highly skilled Software Infrastructure Engineer with expertise in DevOps tools to join our Satellite Ground Systems team. This role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining the software infrastructure required for the operation and management of satellite ground systems, with a focus on automation, deployment, and monitoring. This is an onsite position in State College, PA, Ft. Meade, MD, or Aurora, CO.

What You Will Do

  • This role involves close collaboration with systems engineers, hardware designers, and other software engineers to deliver reliable and high-performance software solutions. Other responsibilities to anticipate may include:

  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues.

  • Working with multiple engineering disciplines in an agile DevOps environment.

  • Develop and maintain documentation for the software infrastructure, including design documents, user manuals, and system administration guides.

  • Provide mentoring and guidance to engineers needing infrastructure assistance.

  • Define, develop, and prototype software scripts, virtualization environments, and cloud environments.

  • Implement and manage continuous delivery systems and methodologies.

  • Participate in the continuous improvement of the software infrastructure by identifying and implementing enhancements and optimizations.

  • Design and implement software infrastructure for satellite ground systems including the development of tools, applications, and frameworks needed for system operation and data processing.

  • Provide software infrastructure expertise for bids on future development activities.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance is required prior to start date with the adjudication date less than three years ago from your starting date for this position. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.

  • Experience with Information Technology Infrastructure and/or Software Engineering.

  • Experience with the Linux platform.

  • Development experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS).

  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, and Groovy.

  • CompTIA Security+ Certification or ability to obtain within 3 months

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience with VMWare and AWS.

  • Software development experience in Java with unit testing and integration testing experience

  • Knowledge of satellite ground systems, space operations, or related domains is highly desirable.

  • Experience with networking, distributed systems, and cloud computing technologies.

  • Experience with Puppet.

  • Familiarity with secure coding practices, especially in a defense or aerospace setting.

  • Experience with DevOps tools such as Terraform, Packer, Jenkins, Git, Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, etc.

  • Degree in Computer Engineering or Information Technology preferred.

  • Experience with satellite communication systems and protocols is highly preferred.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
