Investigation Diligence & Compliance (Specialist) - Intern
Join Kroll's Global Investigation Diligence & Compliance Team and gain hands-on experience in the dynamic field of investigations. We are seeking motivated and detail-oriented individuals to join the team here at Kroll.
Through a combination of expertise, global research capabilities and technology, the Investigation Diligence & Compliance practice of Kroll helps clients team helps our clients stay ahead of complex demands related to independent expert analysis, testimony, advice and intelligence in complex investigations, litigation and projects globally. This internship will be particularly focused on developing your open-source intelligence (OSINT) and social media investigations skills - the building blocks of modern investigations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Interns support the overall investigations and research process at Kroll. Interns will be exposed to investigative approaches used globally to mitigate the impact of reputational risk, fraud and corruption. The right candidate will be an excellent writer with meticulous attention to detail, who learns quickly, and is dedicated to delivering exceptional work to our clients.
  • Conduct increasingly complex research (in English and/or Spanish) using public record databases, commercial and proprietary databases, media sources and the Internet
  • Perform detailed reviews of subjects' digital footprints with a focus on social media content using OSINT techniques
  • Conduct social media analysis within an agreed risk framework
  • Analyze and synthesize relevant research findings
  • Write well-structured, concise, and objective reports; to provide Kroll's clients with an accurate assessment of the findings

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Availability to work roughly 15-20 hours per week remotely, with opportunities to work in-person from a local Kroll office depending on location
  • Currently pursuing undergraduate or graduate degree at an accredited US college or university
  • Preferred majors: literature (English, Spanish, etc), history, psychology, economics, government/political science, international relations, sociology, philosophy, classics, math, physics, anthropology
  • Major GPA of at least 3.7
  • Native or equivalent English language proficiency
  • Expected to graduate date of May 2027 - May 2029
  • Ability to prioritize several projects and assignments on multiple topics while meeting tight deadlines
  • Ability to conduct online research using various primary and secondary sources
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while meeting strict deadlines
  • Ability to understand, accept, and apply constructive feedback
  • Availability during fall semester (through December 2026, with the potential for an extension for the Spring 2027 semester)

PREFERRED SKILLS:
  • Proficiency in Spanish is highly desired, but not required
  • Interest and understanding of current events, international affairs, culture (pop and high) with consideration for the social media commentary and movements that emerge in response
  • Proficiency in additional languages
  • Research experience of any kind (academic or professional)
  • Familiarity with emerging social media platforms and mechanisms
  • Experience with any type of risk assessment
