Kroger Background Check information

What is a Kroger background check?

A Kroger background check is a process the company uses to verify the criminal, employment, and sometimes educational history of job applicants. This check helps Kroger ensure a safe work environment and that candidates meet company standards. The background check typically includes a review of criminal records, previous employment, and may also include a drug test. The timeline for results can range from a few days to a week, depending on the position and location. Not all criminal records will disqualify a candidate, but certain offenses may impact hiring decisions.

What should I expect during the Kroger background check process after receiving a job offer?

After you receive a job offer from Kroger, you'll undergo a background check that typically includes verification of your identity, employment history, and a criminal record check. The process is usually handled by a third-party agency and can take anywhere from a few days to a week. It's important to be honest on your application, as discrepancies may delay or affect your employment. While minor offenses may not automatically disqualify you, Kroger considers the nature of any criminal history in relation to the responsibilities of the role. Communication from Kroger’s HR team will keep you informed about the progress and any further steps required.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a background check specialist at Kroger, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Background Check Specialist at Kroger, you need a keen attention to detail, familiarity with legal compliance, and experience in HR or background screening processes, often supported by a relevant degree or HR certification. Proficiency with background screening software, applicant tracking systems (ATS), and understanding Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) guidelines is essential. Strong organizational skills, discretion, and clear communication help you effectively handle sensitive information and coordinate with hiring managers. These skills ensure thorough, compliant, and efficient background checks, which are crucial for maintaining workplace safety and legal standards.

Job description

We are looking for a Performance Media Manager who blends deep paid media expertise with an AI-native workflow. This is not a traditional media buying role; you will leverage automation and AI tools to manage campaigns efficiently, surface faster insights, and drive outsized results for DTC and retail media clients.

This is a client-facing role requiring US Pacific Time availability, with flexibility for CST client calls.

Key Responsibilities for a Performance Media Manager

  • Campaign Execution: Launch and optimize full-funnel campaigns across DTC (Meta, Google, TikTok) and Retail Media (DoorDash, Instacart, Walmart Connect, Target Roundel, etc.).
  • Performance Ownership: Manage daily bidding, budget pacing, and creative rotations to hit aggressive KPIs (ROAS, ACOS, TACoS).
  • AI & Automation: Integrate AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Custom GPTs) and automation (Zapier, Make) into your daily workflow for reporting, keyword research, and QA.
  • Data Strategy: Partner with data teams to build dashboards (Looker, Tableau) and translate raw data into compelling growth narratives.
  • Client Management: Lead strategic presentations and regular check-ins, acting as a proactive growth partner for brand stakeholders.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Align media plans with marketing timelines, seasonal promotions, and product priorities.

Qualifications for a Performance Media Manager

  • Experience: 3–5 years in paid media or performance marketing (DTC or Retail Media).
  • AI Mastery: Daily, active use of AI tools to streamline professional workflows and operations.
  • Platform Knowledge: Hands-on experience with Meta, Google, or TikTok Ads.
  • Analytical Skills: Deep understanding of performance KPIs and the ability to turn data into actionable optimization recommendations.
  • Communication: Confident client-facing presence with the ability to tell a "data story."
  • Mindset: Highly organized, self-directed, and a low-ego, "get-it-done" attitude.

Bonus Points for a Performance Media Manager

  • Experience with specific retail platforms (Criteo, Kroger, Amazon Whole Foods Search).
  • Ability to build custom automation scripts (Python, Zapier, Make).
  • Agency background in CPG, Food & Beverage, or E-commerce.
  • Familiarity with retail analytics tools like Pacvue, Skai, or CommerceIQ.
