Familiarity with development tools like Git, IDEs, and knowledge of Korean-specific platforms or localization requirements is often necessary, along with certifications like AWS or Microsoft Azure being advantageous. Adapting to different work cultures and proactively seeking clarification on requirements are key to overcoming communication challenges and ensuring project success.

Job description

Location: Lansing, Michigan (and surrounding project sites)

Position: Interpreter (Korean/English)

Compensation: $60,000 per year

Benefits: Company-provided shared housing; $400/month lunch allowance

A U.S.-based industrial services company founded in 2019, specializing in utility installation, electrical work, and mechanical equipment setup for industrial facilities across the United States. With its headquarters in West Point, Georgia, and a branch office in Byron Center, Michigan, Tronbrown has built a strong track record supporting Korean and international companies — including Hyundai MOBIS, LG Energy Solution, LG CNS, and Seoyon E-Hwa — in establishing and operating their U.S. manufacturing facilities. The company holds both Georgia and Michigan electrical contractor licenses, including a Michigan Master Electrician license.

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Korean/English Interpreter to support daily operations at its Michigan branch and active project sites in the Lansing area. This role serves as the critical communication bridge between Korean-speaking engineers and managers and English-speaking local workers, subcontractors, and clients. Beyond language interpretation, the Interpreter is expected to handle a significant volume of administrative and documentation tasks, requiring strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

Key Responsibilities

Interpretation & Communication

The Interpreter will provide consecutive interpretation on industrial job sites, covering work instructions, safety briefings, technical discussions, and progress meetings between Korean management and local American staff. The role also involves facilitating communication with client representatives from companies such as Hyundai MOBIS and LG Energy Solution, as well as local subcontractors and vendors, ensuring that language and cultural differences do not impede project execution.

Documentation & Administrative Support

A core component of this role is producing and managing project-related documentation. The Interpreter will be responsible for preparing and maintaining project progress reports, daily work logs, material lists, and internal memos using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. Accuracy, organization, and attention to detail are essential, as these documents directly support project management and client reporting. The role also includes translating technical documents, equipment manuals, emails, and contract-related materials between Korean and English.

Coordination & Liaison

The Interpreter will assist in coordinating schedules and logistics between the Korean headquarters/management team and the local Michigan operation, helping to resolve any miscommunications arising from cultural or regulatory differences. Proactive communication and a collaborative attitude are key to success in this position.

Qualifications

Language: Fully bilingual in Korean and English (spoken and written)

Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Excel and PowerPoint — required

Experience: Prior experience in interpretation, translation, or administrative support preferred

Industry Knowledge: Background or interest in electrical, mechanical, or construction fields is a strong plus

Work Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, adaptability to field environments, and a proactive work ethic
