Job Description:

Operator Technician

Huntsman is seeking an Operator Technician supporting the Advanced Materials Division located at the McIntosh Site. This position will report to the Shift Supervisor.

Job Scope

The Operator Technician is responsible for supporting the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the manufacturing facility. This role requires developing a thorough understanding of production processes and supporting operations to ensure production objectives are achieved. The Operations Technician performs operational activities, housekeeping duties, safety initiatives, and process-related tasks while maintaining compliance with company procedures and environmental, health, and safety standards.

In summary, as the Operator Technician, you will:
  • Operate and support manufacturing processes to maintain safe and efficient plant operations.

  • Develop and apply a thorough understanding of production processes and systems.

  • Perform operational duties and housekeeping activities required to maintain production units.

  • Follow work instructions, operating procedures, and supervisor guidance.

  • Support the achievement of Huntsman operational and business objectives.

  • Participate in and complete all required company training programs.

  • Actively support Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) initiatives and safe work practices.

  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.

  • Work collaboratively with team members to support plant operations and production goals.

  • Maintain compliance with applicable environmental regulations and procedures related to regulated materials, including Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) requirements, when applicable.

  • Utilize process control systems and computer-based tools to monitor and support operations.

  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications

Education required

  • Technical degree, Vocational/Technical Training, AIDT Industrial Training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience required

  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing, chemical processing, paper manufacturing, industrial operations, or related environment.

  • Experience operating or supporting manufacturing equipment and production processes.

  • Successful completion of a technical assessment demonstrating knowledge of basic manufacturing equipment and processes.

  • Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Pulp, Paper, and Chemical Technology or a related technical discipline.

  • Direct plant experience as a Chemical Operator in a chemical manufacturing environment.

  • Experience within a paper manufacturing facility.

  • Maintenance, instrumentation, or electrical troubleshooting skills.

  • Operator certification.

  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and RCRA waste handling requirements.

Working Environment
  • Manufacturing plant environment with exposure to industrial equipment and production processes.

  • 12-hour rotating shift schedule.

  • Occasional call-in requirements to support operational needs.

  • Must be able to work safely in an industrial manufacturing environment while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • May involve working around chemicals, process equipment, and regulated materials.

  • Requires adherence to all Environmental, Health, Safety, and operational procedures and standards.

  • Position may require standing, walking, climbing stairs, and performing physical activities associated with manufacturing operations.
