Talent Responsibilities
The Operations Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing and optimizing manufacturing processes to ensure high-quality products are produced and delivered on time to meet customer demands. This position oversees all stages of manufacturing operations including cable production, machine shop activities, final assembly, and testing. The Operations Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating multiple departments within the manufacturing ecosystem, such as Site Facilities and Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) teams, while ensuring their day-to-day performance aligns with the strategic goals set by the Managing Director. By fostering collaboration, implementing efficient workflows, and maintaining rigorous quality standards, the Operations Manager ensures operational excellence and supports the organization's overall success.
Key Responsibilities include:
  • Provides leadership and management according to the HUBER+SUHNER leadership principles after an appropriate transition period.
  • Maintains and fosters a productive, efficient, and safe work environment.
  • Ensures adequate personnel are available to meet customer delivery requirements based upon capacity forecast.
  • Responsible for the effective training and direct of production personnel.
  • Interfaces with Human Resources and manages the requirements, requests, and terminations of personnel within the manufacturing, shipping, and facilities departments.
  • Establishes shift schedules for manufacturing, shipping, and facilities personnel.
  • Recommends tooling, equipment, and infrastructure purchases to support production, shipping, and overall production facility.
  • Oversees facilities and infrastructure maintenance, and equipment preventive maintenance within the manufacturing areas.
  • Recommends and establishes manufacturing processes, flow, and performance metrics for production.
  • Ensures that quality procedures, company policies, and safety policies and procedures are followed by production, shipping, and facilities personnel.
  • Responsible to implement and effectively manage the objectives, projects and tasks as they pertain to the production, shipping, or facilities functions.
  • Works to provide necessary tools and methods, measure performance based upon KPI's and continuously improve on product and process level.
  • Effectively manage Quality Management System within the production and shipping functions.
  • Works to ensure full compliance with legal and business requirements, with relevant standards, work-safety with the assistance of advisors where necessary.
  • Implements all management directives as specified and fully supports all management directives provided to the production, shipping, and facilities functions.

Boundaries of responsibility and interaction with others:
  • Serves as a member of the Company Occupational Health & Safety Team.
  • Must work well in a team environment with Engineering, Quality Assurance, Purchasing, Planning, Process Engineering, MDM, Sales, HR and Finance Departments.
  • Responsible for the resource and priority planning for production jobs.
  • Represents the organization at offsite locations as necessary.

Supervisory Responsibility:
  • Coaches and mentors direct reports, colleagues, customers, visitors, etc.
  • Provides leadership and support according to the H+S leadership principles.
  • Ensures employee assessments are completed timely, accurately, equitable and are legally compliant.
  • Conducts compliant professional interviews and documents within 24 hours supporting corporate employer branding goals.
  • Processes employee/contractor payroll by validating time and attendance timely and accurately with HR support as needed.
  • Recognizes employee workplace conflicts early and manages, involving HR for support and guidance.
  • Expert knowledge of all policies ensuring compliance among workplace addressing with HR for support as needed.
  • Directs organizational operations, projects, and services within the confines of the corporate values and holds others to the same standard.
  • Adheres to all regulations and guidelines contained in the Global Management System and ensures staff are informed and operating within the H+S guidelines.
  • All other relevant duties as assigned.

Talent Profile
Education:
  • BS Degree in Engineering

Experience:
  • 5 or more years of high mix/low volume electromechanical assembly / manufacturing experience.
  • 5 or more years of demonstrated management experience of personnel performing assembly/production functions.

Skills/Knowledge:
  • Product know-how in the field of high frequency and microwave technologies.
  • Intermediate understanding of interconnect technologies and products.
  • Understanding of performance metrics and KPIs.
  • Intermediate level with SAP (preferred) or any other market recognized ERP System.
  • Clear and concise communication skills in both internal and external organization venues.
  • Attention to detail and production control methods.
  • Capable of handling multiple tasks in parallel.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Self-starter, Self-motivated and ability to prioritize tasks with minimum intervention.
  • Ability to handle change effectively.
  • Coach/Mentor the team to develop high performance culture.
  • Customer focus and an ability to manage internal customers and peers with tact and diplomacy.
