Job description

The Deli/Bakery Department Manager oversees all operations of the deli and bakery departments, ensuring high-quality prepared foods, baked goods, and exceptional customer service. This role is responsible for managing inventory, ensuring food safety compliance, driving sales, and leading a team to meet department goals while maintaining an appealing and efficient department.
Key Responsibilities:
· Department Operations: Oversee daily operations, including food preparation, baking, packaging, and merchandising of deli and bakery products to ensure freshness, quality, and attractive presentation.
· Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels, order product and supplies, manage stock rotation, and minimize waste to maintain product quality and reduce shrink.
· Team Leadership: Train, schedule, and supervise deli and bakery staff, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
· Customer Service: Address customer inquiries, resolve complaints, and provide product knowledge to enhance the shopping experience.
· Food Safety & Compliance: Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations, including HACCP, FDA, and local health department standards, for both deli and bakery operations.
· Sales & Profitability: Develop strategies to increase department sales, meet financial targets, and implement promotional displays to drive customer engagement.
· Quality Control: Maintain high standards for product quality, freshness, and presentation in deli cases, bakery displays, and storage areas.
· Budget Management: Manage department budget, control labor costs, and optimize operational efficiency.

Requirements/Responsibilities

Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· 3+ years of experience in deli, bakery, or food service operations.
· Strong knowledge of deli and bakery product preparation, handling, and food safety regulations.
· Proven leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
· Excellent communication and customer service skills.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
