The Dispatch Manager is responsible for routing and scheduling all outbound freight.  Supervise truck drivers, admin support personnel and fleet maintenance persons associated with the transportation function. 

WHAT YOU’LL DO: 

  • Responsible for the daily safe, efficient, legal and economical operation of all transportation activities 

  • Support sales efforts consistent with corporate and regulatory compliance, health, safety and environmental affairs 

  • Implement and manage branch regulatory compliance program; CFR 49 

  • Develop transportation budgets and operating plans in coordination with sales and branch management 

  • Responsible for meeting customer delivery requirements in a cost-effective manner. 

  • Manage salary plan, personnel development, hiring, promoting and termination within the transportation/dispatch function 

  • Schedule deliveries with Company equipment and set-up common carriers  

  • Maintain truck licensing and permits  

  • Answer shipping office phones, radio and may back-up other shipping and receiving clerks 

  • Responsible for training health and safety programs for transportation personnel 

  • Solve customer service problems 

  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned, as required 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED: 

  • High School Diploma, required  

  • 3-5 years of leadership experience in transportation 

  • In-depth knowledge of chemical distribution facility operation 

  • Strong computer, verbal and written communications skills 

  • Working knowledge of governmental requirements related to the chemical industy; i.e. OSHA, EPA, RCRA, DOT, etc. or demonstrated ability to attain such knowledge 

  • Experience shipping and receiving products using a computer inventory system  

  • Some product knowledge, chemical industry background and/or chemistry classes a plus 

  • Strong interpersonal skills in coaching and team building with all levels of people in the organization 

  • High level of decision-making ability, balancing customers' needs and company objectives 

  • Strong organization skills with the ability to handle diverse and significant workload 

  • Demonstrated supervisory skills

Pay and Benefits: 

This position is currently vacant. The annual expected salary range for this position is $75,000 - $100,000. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.
