Operations Manager (Part-Time)

Numina

On-site, Remote

Part-time

Re-posted 20 days ago

Job description

ROLE: Operations Manager (PT)

Hours: Part-time

Location: Candidates must be based in Michigan.

OUR MISSION

Make communities more responsive, so they are safer, healthier, and more equitable for the people who live in them.

Numina makes a hardware and software platform that uses computer vision to help urban planners and municipal governments design better (safer) streets and public places. We sense bicycle, pedestrian, and other street traffic, and convert this data into real-time intelligence - without surveillance - to enable all sorts of partners in automation, autonomy, and development in the public right-of-way. We are looking for passionate people who would like to join us as we pursue our shared vision of more responsive cities.

WHAT YOU WILL DO HERE

As Operations Manager, you will work closely with the CEO, running both internal- and external-facing strategic initiatives to advance business goals and optimize team operations. You are organized and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, iterate quickly, and maintain a professional, energetic, and motivational work environment.

This role is part-time, with the potential to transition to full-time.

Responsibilities

Strategic Initiatives

  • Act as an extension of the CEO on strategic projects - to ideate, vet, research, advocate for or against, prototype, and otherwise manage any Growth or Product projects that may advance Numina's mission to make streets more walkable, bikeable, and equitable. Serve as a connector within the organization, and drive key projects to operational maturity.

  • Act as the main point of contact for our work in Michigan.

  • Identify - and secure - opportunities to expand our work in Michigan.

  • Meet with external parties, alongside or instead of company leaders such as the CEO, to represent Numina's value, capabilities, product, and interests to potential and existing partners.

  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, proactively identifying and solving for gaps and inefficiencies.

  • Work with high-priority customers to ensure successful project execution.

Operations

  • Project operations - ensure that all project reporting and invoicing is streamlined as we execute against grants and other funded projects.

  • Team operations - be a team & culture champion, celebrate team wins, lead all-hands meetings, and ensure Numina is upholding our values though every layer of our operations. Our values live at numina.co/our-values.

  • Sales operations - learn our existing sales processes and make recommendations for further efficiencies as we scale.

This role may require travel.

WHO YOU ARE

You have 2+ years of experience, with a passion for climate justice. Ideally, you have some work experience in mobility, climate, or start ups.

Like us, you value creativity, curiosity, and intellectual honesty, and you are committed to solving problems with us together as a team. Your desire to have a huge impact motivates you to join a small, incredibly productive team and do extraordinary things. You have the following skills and competencies:

  • able to juggle many moving parts and dynamically re-prioritize

  • process-oriented, thorough, detail-oriented, deadline-driven

  • able to work independently and remotely

  • willing to take a deep dive into any subject we need to better understand, laser focused on understanding our customers and solving user needs

  • effective in giving and receiving critical feedback. Capable of respectful and thoughtful "devil's advocacy" / dissent against prevailing company opinions

  • Passion about cities and sustainability, transportation, privacy, and/or frontier technology!

Additional experience that could be helpful:

Experience working in B2G businesses, selling to or working for government customers

A background in policy or local government

 Experience in a startup environment

 Experience in customer-facing roles

WHO WE ARE

We strive to be a team of positive, open-minded, respectful, resilient, dedicated, accountable, logical, creative, and empathetic people. We spend our days building an amazing product that makes a real difference in the world. We are a remote-first, distributed team, with an optional office in Brooklyn, New York. We are committed to seeking and sustaining diverse perspectives on our team. We encourage women, people of color, individuals with disabilities, veterans, and others from underrepresented backgrounds to apply.

We are backed by investors including betaworks, Shasta Ventures, Elemental Excelerator, URBAN-X (MINI BMW), and accomplished entrepreneur-angels.  We're scrappy and frugal. We've built our product at a sustainable pace and have always been pointed toward profitability.

As a growing company and startup, work priorities may shift as customer or business requirements change. We strive to empower individuals with context and decision-making power to meet this need.
