Job Description:

The Material Kitter / Sheet Metal Kitter is responsible for preparing, organizing, and staging material kitsโ€”particularly sheet metal componentsโ€”for production teams according to work orders and schedules. This position plays a critical role in maintaining production flow by ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery of parts to the manufacturing floor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pull, verify, and stage all materials (especially sheet metal components) according to job travelers, bills of material (BOMs), and production schedules.
  • Accurately read and interpret work orders, schematics, and part lists to identify required components.
  • Label and organize kits clearly for ease of identification and transfer to assembly or fabrication areas.
  • Ensure all materials meet quality and quantity requirements; report shortages or defects to the supervisor or quality team.
  • Coordinate with inventory control to maintain accurate stock levels and identify replenishment needs.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, or carts to transport kits and materials as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitting and staging areas to support 5S and lean manufacturing practices.
  • Assist with receiving, cycle counting, and other materials-related tasks as needed.
  • Collaborate with production, planning, and purchasing teams to resolve part or kitting issues.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1โ€“2 years of experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or kitting roleโ€”sheet metal or electrical assembly experience preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints, BOMs, and work instructions.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (JobBOSS preferred) and inventory practices.
  • Basic computer and data entry skills; ability to use scanners and printers.
  • Forklift or material handling equipment certification (or willingness to become certified).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
