KINDERGARTEN TEACHER

Reports To: Head of Lower School
Position Summary

The Kindergarten Teacher plays a foundational role in nurturing students academically, socially, and spiritually while cultivating a classroom culture rooted in truth, goodness, and beauty.Our private classical school seeks a warm, joyful, and mission-driven Kindergarten Teacher who delights in the wonder of early childhood and is passionate about classical Christian education.

This is a full-time position beginning in the upcoming academic year.

RESPONSIBILITIES:Classroom Instruction
  • Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate, classical Kindergarten curriculum.

  • Teach foundational literacy and numeracy using phonics-based reading and hands-on math instruction.

  • Foster curiosity and wonder through stories, poetry, nature study, art, music, and play-based learning.

  • Integrate faith and character formation into daily classroom life.

  • Create a joyful, orderly, and engaging classroom environment.

Student Development
  • Support students’ social, emotional, and spiritual growth.

  • Encourage habits of attention, kindness, perseverance, and responsibility.

  • Observe and assess student progress and communicate regularly with families.

Collaboration amp; Community
  • Partner closely with parents.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to strengthen curriculum and school culture.

  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or related field

  • Teaching certification or ability to obtain certification

  • Experience teaching young children (Kindergarten or early elementary preferred)

  • Strong classroom management and communication skills

  • Love for children and enthusiasm for teaching foundational skills

Preferred
  • Experience or interest in classical education

  • Training in phonics-based reading instruction

  • Desire to grow professionally within a classical school environment
