The Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department is a nationally accredited, three-time National Gold Medal Award winner, recognized for excellence in parks and recreation. We are seeking motivated individuals to join our team as Athletic Field Supervisors, playing a vital role in supporting the department's mission to provide high-quality, equitable, and safe recreational opportunities for the Greensboro community.

  • Hourly Employment: Roster positions are paid hourly and do not include benefits such as medical, dental, or vision insurance, life insurance, paid leave, or paid holidays.

  • Pension System: Roster positions are not eligible for membership in the city's pension system.

About the Role
As an Athletic Field Supervisor, you will serve as the front-line staff under the supervision of the Assistant Athletic Coordinators. Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Enforcing athletic policies and procedures at various facilities and events
  • Preparing and setting up fields and facilities for programs
  • Monitoring participant eligibility and maintaining accurate game records (e.g., scoring, time-outs, fouls, game times)
  • Ensuring safety by managing crowd control, responding to emergencies, and maintaining clean and secure facilities
  • Communicating maintenance or security concerns to supervisors
  • Opening and closing facilities and conducting regular site checks during activities
This role requires physical activity such as bending, kneeling, climbing, walking on uneven surfaces, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
This position is Non-Exempt under FLSA policy.

  • Availability to work at least 3 days a week and 2 weekends a month

  • Experience in athletic programming (e.g., keeping a scorebook, operating a scoreboard)
  • Knowledge of Greensboro Parks and Recreation principles
  • CPR/AED and First Aid Certification
  • Strong ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision
