Job description

Hospitality, beverages, alcoholic and non-alcoholic, are at the heart of Marlow's Tavern. The role of the Key Employee exists to assist the management team in the daily supervision and direction of service and culinary team members on scheduled shifts. You must be able to interact effectively with team members and the management teams and be the local champion of the "Hospitality First" vibe in your Tavern. It is a role that requires ongoing education of the team, managing our systems and processes and being the liaison between the company programs and great execution of those programs in your tavern.
You should be the driving force behind our company's number one value, "Hospitality." You are ultimately accountable for directing a process that begins with product and procedures education throughout the team and ends with a smiling guest receiving the food, beverage and service they expected, served when and the way they want it, all with Marlow's "World Class Hospitality".
The Key Employee reports to the General Manager and shares responsibility for certain aspects of the overall results of the Tavern. In addition to the personal, functional and leadership responsibilities, the Key Employee must possess basic management skills, including people skills, guest retention and shift management.
Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Assists in training and validating all "Corner Bar" and "Hospitality" team members through the use of Marlow's approved training materials to include final sign offs on any bartender, server or server assistant's "Check it outs"
  • Maintains a fun and professional work environment grounded in our values, guiding principles and promises
  • Helps the team in following drink recipes and ensures standards are clear and being met fully
  • Assists managers with an organized and effective continuing education process that supports our values system and products as a part of daily routine
  • Maintains bar log and communication book on scheduled shifts
  • Responsible for informing servers, server assistants and bartenders of important information
  • Assign and instruct servers, server assistants and bartenders in their responsibilities to include, but not limited to, opening checklist, steps to service, side work, and closing checklists
  • Ensure expo and beverage stations and table set-ups are complete
  • Ensure that meals are being served in a professional and timely manner by circulating within the tavern and communicating with the kitchen and servers
  • Interact with guests in a friendly, cheerful and professional manner; resolve problems to the satisfaction of guests ensuring we never lose a guest
  • Maintain proper condition and cleanliness of Tavern and servicing equipment
