Group Fitness Instructor- Kettlebell (Part-time)

Details
  • Part Time (Part-time/Temporary/Seasonal Status), non-exempt
  • $26.00-$29.00 per hour, depending on qualifications
  • Reports to Recreation Supervisor- Fitness
  • Located at Eden Prairie Community Center (16700 Valley View Road, Eden Prairie, MN)
  • Hours vary, may include evenings and weekends

Responsibilities
The fitness instructor leads group fitness classes at the Eden Prairie Community Center. This position may substitute for group fitness classes in a variety of formats. The primary position responsibilities and areas of impact are to:
  • Provide instruction in a variety of fitness activities and formats. Ensure members' needs are met through personal recognition and by providing quality service. Monitor the well-being of all participants throughout the exercise program.
  • Assume a leadership role as a professional in the area of fitness and wellness. Encourage participants to continue with exercises and make healthy choices.
  • Ensure that a safe and healthy environment exists for exercising. Enforce all fitness facility policies, rules and regulations. Assist in the cleaning and general maintenance of fitness areas.
  • Arrive well-prepared: music cued, routine thought out, ample time for setup and to greet participants prior to start of class.

While these areas are the primary focus of this position, we believe strongly in teamwork and employees will be called upon to perform a variety of duties as a part of their role with the City.
Requirements
  • Group exercise certification (ACE, NETA, AFAA or equivalent) required, format-specific certifications and First Aid, CPR and AED certifications required.
  • Experience teaching group fitness classes required, specifically Kettlebell. Experience teaching a variety of group fitness classes is preferred.
  • Candidates must successfully complete and pass the City's evaluation of the pre-employment process prior to their first day of employment. Pre-employment processes for this position includes professional reference checks, background check, work verification.

Notices discrepancies and inconsistencies in available information. Identifies a set of features, parameters or considerations to take into account in analyzing a situation or making a decision.
