Job description

Position Overview

A Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) ensures that the parts and materials provided by external vendors meet the required quality, safety, and regulatory standards. They bridge the gap between their company's design teams and the supplier's manufacturing floor, preventing defects and supply chain disruptions.

Education/Experience and Qualification Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a quality role is required
  • Familiarity with Quality Management Systems
  • Must be a self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented person
  • Ability to calibrate quality inspection tools and equipment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Fully identify non-conformances in products and begin corrective action process
  • Take the lead in processing new part samples and pilot run activities
  • Document product information and non-conformances in an organized informative outline or presentation
  • Conduct supplier audits and assessments to verify compliance with quality, capacity, and process requirements
  • Implements and maintains supplier QA systems aligned with company standards
  • Reviews and approves PPAP, FAI, and related documentation
  • Review cross-functional processes such as machining, casting, fabrication, or welding to assist in quality activities
  • Identify continuous improvement activities in various departments
  • Review procedures and document suggestions for improvements
  • Take the lead in team activities and training
  • Performs other duties assigned

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

  • Work is usually performed in a manufacturing plant environment
  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking through facility, sitting and desk work
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs at a time
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the company’s facilities
