What is a KCS?

KCS, or Knowledge-Centered Service, refers to a methodology used in customer service and support environments to capture, structure, and reuse knowledge as part of the workflow. Individuals working in KCS roles are responsible for documenting solutions to customer issues, maintaining the knowledge base, and ensuring information is up to date and accessible to both customers and staff. KCS practitioners help organizations improve efficiency, reduce repeated inquiries, and enhance customer satisfaction by making information readily available. These roles often include knowledge authors, coaches, and managers who guide the KCS process and promote its adoption within the organization.
