Job Summary:

The Plumbing Instructor member is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in the Construction/Plumbing certificate program, preparing students for entry into the plumbing profession. This position provides classroom and hands-on training aligned with industry standards and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Instruction includes piping systems, plumbing service practices, waste and vent installation, code compliance, and related calculations. The faculty member ensures students develop the technical knowledge, practical skills, and safety awareness necessary for successful employment in the plumbing and construction industry.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Teach courses such as the following:

• PLU 1001 – Piping Skills | Credits: 4
• PLU 1004 – Plumbing Service | Credits: 4
• PLU 1008 – Soldering & Brazing Skills | Credits: 0.5
• PLU 1030 – Basic Waste and Vent | Credits: 4
• PLU 1050 – Code & Piping Calculations | Credits: 2
• PLU 2007 – International Plumbing Code | Credits: 4

Actual schedule may vary based on semester course load.

• Assist in program development and other division tasks as assigned by the Dean of Academics.
• Participate in the development and revision of curriculum and program/course evaluation and assessment, including student learning outcomes.
• Perform related duties in the plumbing discipline as assigned; participate in professional development activities
• Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter
• Use effective teaching/learning strategies
• Work cooperatively with other department members and the Dean of Academic Services to develop and maintain quality instruction
• Assignment may include a combination of day, evening, and weekend courses
• Class preparation and instruction.
• Grading and record keeping.
• Student communication and support outside of the scheduled class time.
• Timely communication with peers and supervisors.
• Participation in department meetings, when possible.
• Active instructors are expected to participate in all mandatory compliance training courses.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. AAS Degree or higher in Plumbing Technology or related field, and relevant certifications
2. Ability to obtain and maintain a Colorado Postsecondary CTE credential
   Or
3. Relevant certifications that may substitute for tested experience would include but are not limited to Plumbing Journeyman License, Plumbing Masters License.
4. Comfortable navigating the challenges of teaching
5. Ability to obtain and maintain a Colorado Postsecondary CTE credential
6. Ability to demonstrate or articulate a commitment to serving all students
7. Effectively demonstrate an understanding of plumbing materials and methods.
8. Understand requirements for plumbing supply, waste and vent.
9. Understand plumbing code as outlined in the International Plumbing Code book.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in diverse communities and supporting the success of individuals from racial, ethnic, and gender backgrounds that are underrepresented.
• Teaching experience in a secondary, post-secondary, or adult education setting with knowledge of plumbing concepts, plumbing processes and practices, blueprint reading for plumbers, fuel gas system concepts and practices and plumbing safety.
• Experience in using education software & technology in curriculum development and delivery.
