Job description

Title:

Construction Manager - Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) (LNG Project)

KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) provides holistic and value-added solutions across the entire asset life cycle. These include world-class licensed process technologies, differentiated advisory services, deep technical domain expertise, energy transition solutions, high-end design capabilities, and smart solutions to optimize planned and operating assets.

KBR is looking for a Construction Manager with extensive Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) expertise to support a major LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) project. The successful candidate will lead the planning, coordination, installation, testing, and commissioning of all electrical, instrumentation, controls, and communication systems associated with the construction of a world-class LNG facility.

This position requires a proven leader with significant experience managing I&E construction activities on large industrial projects, including LNG, petrochemical, refinery, power generation, or gas processing facilities.

Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Lead all Instrumentation & Electrical construction activities from installation through commissioning and startup.

  • Manage electrical and instrumentation contractors to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality project execution.

  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operations teams to meet project objectives.

  • Oversee installation and testing of:

    • Medium-voltage and low-voltage electrical systems

    • Substations and switchgear

    • Motor control centers (MCCs)

    • Power distribution systems

    • Instrumentation and control systems

    • Distributed Control Systems (DCS)

    • Emergency Shutdown Systems (ESD)

    • Fire and Gas Detection Systems

    • Telecommunications and fiber optic networks

  • Review construction work packages, drawings, specifications, and commissioning plans.

  • Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.

  • Monitor project schedules, manpower requirements, productivity, and cost performance.

  • Lead field inspections, quality audits, loop checks, system turnovers, and pre-commissioning activities.

  • Identify and resolve technical issues impacting schedule, quality, or safety.

  • Support development and execution of commissioning and startup plans.

  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure strict compliance with site HSE requirements.

  • Provide regular progress reports and forecasts to project leadership and stakeholders.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline OR equivalent construction experience.

  • Minimum 10 years of construction management experience, including significant experience managing I&E scopes on large industrial projects.

  • Demonstrated experience on LNG, petrochemical, refinery, gas processing, or power generation projects.

  • Strong knowledge of:

    • Electrical power distribution systems

    • Instrumentation installation and calibration

    • Process controls and automation

    • DCS, PLC, and SCADA systems

    • Hazardous area classifications

    • Loop testing and system commissioning

    • NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and IEC standards

  • Experience managing large field teams and multiple subcontractors.

  • Proven ability to deliver complex I&E scopes safely and on schedule.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct LNG project experience strongly preferred.

  • Experience supporting greenfield LNG export terminals or liquefaction facilities.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.

  • PMP certification or equivalent project management credentials.

  • Experience with Honeywell, Emerson DeltaV, Yokogawa, ABB, Siemens, or similar control systems.

Familiarity with turnover, commissioning, startup, and handover processes
